Najeeb Jung, a Muslim, new Lieutenant Governer of Delhi

): Former Vice Chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia University, Najeeb Jung, was sworn in as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on Tuesday.
Chief Justice of Delhi High Court B.D. Ahmed administered the oath of office and secrecy to Jung at Raj Niwas, the official residence of Lieutenant Governor.
The formal ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her council of ministers, prominent political leaders and officials of the
administration. The out going L.G was however absent from the ceremony pointing to his unhappiness with Najeeb’s appointment.
A 1973-batch IAS officer, Jung worked in various capacities in Madhya Pradesh and the central governments.
He has worked in the energy sector, and was associated with the Asian Development Bank andOxford Institute for Energy Studies, Oxford University, before he was called to head theJamia in New Delhi. (ANI)
